Mansa: Continuous heavy rainfall in Punjab turned deadly in Mansa district, where a tragic incident took place in Sardulgarh’s Chainewala village late Sunday night. The roof of a house collapsed around 1:30 am, killing an uncle and his nephew in their sleep.

According to villagers, 35-year-old Baljit Singh, one of the deceased, belonged to a poor family and earned his livelihood through daily wage labor. The torrential rain caused the roof of his mud house to cave in, trapping him and his nephew under the debris. Both died on the spot.

The bodies were later taken to the mortuary at Sardulgarh Civil Hospital. The incident has left the village in deep grief, with residents and social organizations urging the government to provide immediate financial assistance to the bereaved family.

This tragedy highlights the widespread damage caused by relentless rains across Punjab and the vulnerability of families living in weak and fragile houses.
