Chandigarh: Haryana Health Minister, Ms. Arti Singh Rao said that the state government’s primary focus is to further strengthen, modernise, and improve healthcare services across Haryana.

Interacting with media persons at her official residence in Chandigarh today, she said that cleanliness and security services in government hospitals will be managed through the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) mode to improve overall hospital administration. The initiative aims to significantly enhance the safety of women patients, nurses, doctors and other staff members in government health institutions.

Taking a firm stand against crimes against women, the Health Minister said that those found guilty would not be spared under any circumstances. Referring to the recent case of sexual assault involving a minor girl at Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Civil Hospital, Kurukshetra, she said that an FIR has been registered against the accused consultant and his services have been terminated with immediate effect.

Ms. Arti Singh Rao said that the Government Medical College being constructed in Charkhi Dadri will be named after the renowned freedom fighter Rao Tula Ram. She expressed gratitude to the Central Government and Haryana Chief Minister, Sh. Nayab Singh Saini for the decision and noted that Union Minister Rao Inderjit Singh had been making continuous efforts for this naming. She said naming the institution after a great freedom fighter would inspire younger generations and help them learn about the sacrifices made for the nation.

Reiterating the government’s commitment to providing quality healthcare services, she said that ensuring the availability of gynaecologists, anaesthetists and paediatricians in all districts remains a top priority. Special emphasis is being laid on providing healthcare facilities for women and children closer to their homes.

The Health Minister said that development works worth approximately Rs. 104.16 crore have been initiated to strengthen the state’s healthcare infrastructure. She further said that under the 15th Finance Commission, approval has been granted for the construction of 766 new health institutions across the state, including 597 Sub-Health Centres, 51 Primary Health Centres (PHCs), 7 Community Health Centres (CHCs) and 111 Block Public Health Centres.

Highlighting efforts to provide modern healthcare facilities and affordable medicines, she said that Tele-ECG services are being introduced in 600 health institutions across Haryana to benefit cardiac patients. Besides this, ‘Amrit Pharmacies’ have been established in all 23 district hospitals to provide quality medicines at affordable prices. She added that she personally conducts surprise inspections from time to time to review the availability of medicines and other healthcare services.

Linking healthcare development with environmental sustainability, Ms. Arti Singh Rao said that under the leadership of Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, green energy initiatives are being promoted across the country. In line with this vision, the Haryana Government is preparing to install solar power plants in government hospitals and is taking rapid steps towards implementing the initiative.
