Amritsar: Punjab Police has registered a case against senior Shiromani Akali Dal leader and former minister Bikram Singh Majithia, along with 50 to 60 unidentified persons, for allegedly attacking Majitha Police Station and obstructing police officials during an investigation.

According to Amritsar Rural Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Suhail Qasim Mir, FIR No. 91 dated May 31, 2026, has been registered at Majitha Police Station in connection with the incident.

The SSP said the case is linked to the arrest of Jobanpreet Singh, who was taken into custody by Majitha Police in FIR No. 90 registered on May 30, 2026.

According to the police, while Jobanpreet Singh was being questioned by investigators, a group allegedly led by Majithia arrived at the police station and overpowered police personnel. The mob allegedly attempted to free the accused from police custody.

Police officials claimed that the situation escalated before the Station House Officer (SHO) and Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) of Majitha intervened and confronted the group. Following the intervention, Jobanpreet Singh was reportedly brought back under police custody.

The police have accused the group of interfering in official duties and creating a law-and-order situation at the police station. Authorities are continuing their investigation and are working to identify the other individuals allegedly involved in the incident.

There was no immediate detailed response from Majithia regarding the allegations at the time of filing this report.
