New Delhi: The Special Cell of Delhi Police has arrested nine individuals allegedly linked to a Pakistan-based ISI-Mumbai underworld network that was reportedly planning attacks on vital installations and security personnel in the national capital.

According to police officials, the accused were working on behalf of the network and had been assigned the task of carrying out attacks targeting key government installations and security forces in Delhi.

The arrests were made by the NDR unit of the Special Cell as part of a coordinated operation against the alleged terror-criminal network.

Delhi Police said arms and explosive materials were recovered from the possession of the accused during the operation. Authorities are currently investigating the nature of the recovered materials, the targets allegedly identified by the group, and the extent of the network’s activities.

Officials suspect that the accused were operating under the direction of handlers connected to Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and elements of the Mumbai-based underworld.

The arrests come days after another major anti-terror operation in northern India. On Wednesday, the Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) and Special Task Force (STF) busted a suspected sleeper cell allegedly operating on behalf of Pakistan’s intelligence agency and linked to Pakistani gangster Shahzad Bhatti.

During the joint operation in Saharanpur, four suspects were arrested and are being questioned regarding their alleged activities and links to foreign handlers.

Security agencies are now examining whether there are any connections between the Delhi and Uttar Pradesh cases as part of broader efforts to dismantle terror and organised crime networks operating across state borders.

Further investigation is underway.
