Haryana BJP Gets New Leadership as Dr Archana Gupta Takes Over State Unit

Chandigarh: The Bharatiya Janata Party has appointed Archana Gupta as the new president of its Haryana unit, marking a significant organisational change ahead of upcoming political challenges in the state.

With this appointment, Dr Gupta becomes only the second woman in the party’s history to lead the Haryana BJP. The last woman to hold the position was Kamla Verma, who headed the organisation in the early 1980s.

Originally from Samalkha in Panipat district, Dr Gupta comes from a family associated with public service and social causes. A qualified radiologist and gold medallist in medical studies, she has also been actively involved in community initiatives and healthcare-related activities for several years.

Before entering mainstream politics, she worked with social and cultural organisations and later became associated with the BJP’s organisational structure after 2014. Over time, she steadily rose through the ranks of the party due to her grassroots outreach and organisational work.

Her political journey within the BJP began with responsibilities in the party’s women’s wing at the district level. She later became one of the few women leaders to head the Panipat district BJP unit, where she focused on expanding the party’s network in rural areas and strengthening booth-level structures.

Party insiders credit her for building stronger village-level coordination and improving the BJP’s local organisational performance during her tenure in Panipat. Her work eventually earned her a promotion as Haryana BJP general secretary earlier this year.

Apart from politics, Dr Gupta remained active in social welfare efforts, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic, when she reportedly assisted many residents through medical support and health services.

The BJP leadership is expected to rely on her organisational experience and outreach abilities as the party prepares for future electoral battles in Haryana.
