CHANDIGARH: The Haryana Government has launched an aggressive execution-driven campaign to accelerate healthcare infrastructure projects across the state, focusing on strict accountability, faster implementation and improved patient services. For FY 2026–27, the government has allocated Rs. 815 crore for major health infrastructure projects — nearly 288 percent higher than the previous year’s Rs. 210 crore allocation. Out of this, Rs. 203.75 crore has already been released to PWD B&R in the first quarter to speed up construction activities. Chairing a review meeting, Additional Chief Secretary, Health and Family Welfare, Dr. Sumita Misra directed officials to meet revised deadlines and warned that delays in healthcare projects would not be tolerated.

The government is closely monitoring key projects including hospital expansions in Ambala, Gurugram, Hisar, Mahendragarh, Palwal and Rewari. Major works include the expansion of Civil Hospital Ambala Cantt from 100 to 200 beds, upgradation projects at Gurugram and Narnaul hospitals and faster completion of pending works at community and primary health centres. Departments have also been asked to identify accountability for delays, take action against contractor-related issues and ensure quicker clearances to avoid project bottlenecks.

To improve quality and transparency, Haryana has introduced Third Party Quality Assurance mechanisms for all new healthcare infrastructure projects through Quality Assurance Authority (QAA) and PWD B&R Haryana. Independent audits and monitoring systems will ensure higher construction standards. The government has also appointed a dedicated nodal officer for health infrastructure coordination and directed district officials to improve hospital cleanliness, drinking water supply, power backup and patient facilities. The state is additionally planning to engage specialised consultants for future-ready healthcare institutions under the Pradhan Mantri Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission.
