Agra: A tragic accident at an amusement facility in Agra claimed the life of a 16-year-old boy after a zipline cable reportedly broke mid-ride, causing him to plunge from a significant height, police officials said on Monday.

The incident took place on Sunday evening in the Tajganj area, where the teenager, identified as Kunal Agrawal, had visited with his family for leisure activities. Kunal was the son of a bangle businessman from Firozabad.

According to preliminary information, the teenager was using the zipline attraction when the supporting cable allegedly snapped during the ride. He reportedly fell nearly 45 feet to the ground, suffering critical injuries.

Police teams reached the spot soon after receiving information about the mishap. Kunal was rushed to Sarojini Naidu Medical College for treatment, but doctors declared him dead on arrival.

Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Himanshu Gaurav confirmed that a case has been registered and an investigation has begun to determine the exact cause of the accident.

Officials said the recreational site falls under the Agra Development Authority, while the adventure sports section had been handed over to a private operator. Initial findings suggest possible negligence on the part of the company managing the zipline activity.

Following the incident, authorities ordered the suspension of all adventure-related operations at the facility until further notice.

Police are also examining safety standards, maintenance records and operational procedures to determine whether proper precautions were in place before the accident occurred.
