New Delhi: An Air India flight bound for Indore had to return to the national capital on Saturday morning after the pilots received a fire warning for one of the engines shortly after departure.

Flight AI2913 had taken off from Delhi but was forced to air-return when the cockpit crew detected a fire indication in the right engine. Following standard aviation safety protocols, the crew promptly shut down the affected engine and initiated a return to Delhi. The aircraft landed safely without any incident.

Confirming the development, an Air India spokesperson said the plane was grounded for detailed inspection to identify the cause of the warning. Meanwhile, arrangements were made to transfer passengers to another aircraft to ensure their travel to Indore continued with minimal delay.

“All passengers and crew are safe. The aircraft is being examined by the engineering team, and an alternate aircraft will operate the scheduled service to Indore,” the airline stated.

The incident underscores the importance of safety protocols and the crew’s swift action, which averted any potential risk.
