Chandigarh: Employees of the Department of Excise and Taxation have pledged their one day’s salary to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund to support victims of the recent floods in Punjab. The collective decision reflects the department’s commitment to relief and rehabilitation efforts across the state.
An official spokesperson revealed that employees at all levels voluntarily joined the initiative, ensuring that the funds will be directly deposited into the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund. The money will be used to provide emergency aid, food, shelter, and medical care to flood-affected families.
“Our colleagues felt a strong sense of duty to stand with the people of Punjab in this crisis,” the spokesperson said, calling the contribution a heartfelt gesture to support ongoing government relief operations.
Finance, Planning, Excise and Taxation Minister Advocate Harpal Singh Cheema praised the initiative, stating it would inspire other departments and organizations to contribute. Cheema, who along with his cabinet colleagues had already donated a month’s salary, stressed that collective efforts are vital to help the state recover from the devastating floods.
