Gurugram: Punjab Cabinet Minister Sanjeev Arora was remanded to the Enforcement Directorate’s custody for another two days by a court in Gurugram in connection with an ongoing money laundering investigation.

Arora was produced before the court after the completion of his earlier seven-day custodial remand. Following detailed submissions from both the Enforcement Directorate and the defence counsel, the court allowed the federal agency additional time for further questioning as part of its financial probe.

As part of the inquiry, the ED had earlier carried out searches at multiple locations across Delhi, Gurugram and Chandigarh, including premises linked to the minister. Officials reportedly questioned him for several hours before formally taking him into custody.

The development has sparked a sharp political reaction in Punjab. The Aam Aadmi Party has strongly criticised the action, alleging that central agencies are being used to target opposition leaders.

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal have both accused the Centre of attempting to exert political pressure on party representatives through investigative agencies.
