New Delhi: Two men employed on a private sleeper bus service were arrested in Delhi after a woman alleged that she was sexually assaulted inside the vehicle in the Nangloi area, police sources said on Thursday.
The accused, identified as the bus driver and conductor, were taken into custody following the incident, which reportedly occurred on May 12. Authorities have launched an investigation into the case and seized the bus involved for forensic examination and further inquiry.
According to police sources, the woman approached authorities after the alleged assault, leading to the registration of a criminal case at the Rani Bagh police station. The FIR has been filed under provisions related to rape, gang rape and common intention under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Investigators are currently examining the sequence of events, collecting evidence and recording statements connected to the case. Officials said additional details would emerge as the probe progresses.
The incident has once again raised concerns regarding passenger safety in private transport services operating in the national capital, particularly during late-night travel. Police officials have not yet disclosed further information about the victim or the circumstances leading up to the alleged crime in order to protect her identity and privacy.
