Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Tuesday detained two individuals during a routine naka checking operation in the Babadem area of Srinagar and seized arms, ammunition, and posters linked to the banned outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) from their possession, officials said.

According to police sources, the suspects were intercepted at a checkpoint established as part of heightened security measures in the city. During the search operation, security personnel reportedly recovered incriminating material, including weapons, ammunition, and LeT-related posters.

Following the recovery, police registered a case under relevant sections of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and the Arms Act. The accused have been taken into custody for questioning.

Officials stated that further investigation is in progress to ascertain the source of the recovered items and to determine whether the duo had links with any militant network operating in the region.

Security agencies have intensified surveillance and checking operations across Srinagar in view of ongoing efforts to curb unlawful and anti-national activities.
