Shimla: On the first anniversary of Operation Sindoor, Governor Kavinder Gupta today praised the bravery, professionalism and strong spirit of the Indian Armed Forces. On the night of 7–8 May, 2025, the forces carried out a carefully planned and precise military operation against terrorist training camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir. The operation was launched in response to the Pahalgam terror attack on 22nd April, 2025, in which 26 innocent tourists lost their lives.

Speaking on the occasion, the Governor said, ‘Operation Sindoor was not just a military action, it was a clear message to the world that India will never bow before terrorism. Our Armed Forces acted with precision, determination and complete professionalism. On this first anniversary, the nation proudly salutes their courage, sacrifice and dedication to the country.’

Operation Sindoor is seen as a major turning point in India’s approach towards terrorism and cross-border threats. It marked a shift from restraint to a more proactive strategy. During the operation, the Indian Armed Forces showed their deep strike capability by successfully destroying 11 airfields and nine terror camps in Pakistan. At the same time, Pakistan was unable to cause any damage to India’s military assets. Indian-made defence systems such as BrahMos and Akash played an important role, highlighting the country’s growing strength in defence technology and self-reliance.

The Governor said that Himachal Pradesh, which has given many brave and decorated soldiers over the years, has always held the Armed Forces in the highest respect. The men and women from the state have consistently served at the forefront of the nation’s defence, making this anniversary a moment of great pride for every citizen.

‘The hills of Himachal are filled with stories of bravery and sacrifice. On this proud occasion, he expressed gratitude to every soldier and every family that has given a son or daughter in service to the nation. He said that these brave hearts are the pride of Himachal and the pride of India.

Kavinder Gupta also urged people to honour the memory of Operation Sindoor by strengthening their commitment to national unity, integrity and a zero-tolerance approach towards terrorism.

He appealed to the people of Himachal Pradesh to observe the day with pride, gratitude and renewed national resolve. He said that India’s fight against terrorism will continue and the nation will always protect its sovereignty, security and people with determination, professionalism and responsibility.
