Pune: A thirty-three-year-old man from Deulgaon Raje village in Pune has been taken into custody after allegedly murdering his nine-year-old daughter in a violent reaction to altered academic records. The suspect, identified as Shantaram Chavan, reportedly used a saw machine to kill the child after discovering she had tampered with her brother’s marksheet. Investigations suggest the young girl had swapped their rankings to place herself in first position and her brother in second, an act that seemingly provoked the fatal assault.
Following the alleged homicide, Chavan is accused of setting his own home on fire in a calculated attempt to destroy incriminating evidence. While the blaze was initially reported as a potential accident, a rigorous police inquiry revealed that the fire was intentionally ignited. Forensic teams identified specific patterns within the residence that indicated arson, leading investigators to conclude that the fire was a desperate measure to mask the brutal crime committed against the young girl.
The Pune police successfully apprehended Chavan along with an associate who is believed to have assisted him in the aftermath of the killing. Both individuals are currently facing charges related to murder and the destruction of evidence. The tragic incident has deeply affected the local community, highlighting the devastating consequences of extreme domestic violence. Authorities are continuing their search for further evidence at the scene to build a comprehensive case for the upcoming legal proceedings.
