New Delhi: India on Tuesday strongly denounced the recent attack in Fujairah, United Arab Emirates, which left three Indian nationals injured, describing the incident as “unacceptable” and urging all sides to avoid further escalation.

In a statement issued by the Ministry of External Affairs, New Delhi emphasised the need for restraint and reiterated its commitment to peaceful dialogue as tensions rise in the West Asia region. Official spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said that violence targeting civilians and critical infrastructure must stop immediately.

The reaction came shortly after a drone strike sparked a fire at the Fujairah Petroleum Industries Zone in the emirate of Fujairah. Emergency response teams were deployed to the site and managed to bring the blaze under control, according to local authorities.

Reports indicated that the injured Indian nationals suffered moderate wounds and were admitted to nearby hospitals for treatment. Authorities in the United Arab Emirates confirmed that multiple aerial threats were detected during the incident, with most intercepted before reaching land, while one projectile reportedly fell into the sea.

India also highlighted the importance of safeguarding maritime routes, particularly through the Strait of Hormuz, stressing that free and secure navigation must be maintained in line with international law.

Reaffirming its position, India said it stands ready to support efforts aimed at de-escalation and a peaceful resolution to the unfolding situation, as concerns grow over stability in the region.
