Amritsar: Amritsar police have achieved a significant breakthrough by dismantling an international smuggling module operating across the border from Pakistan. Two individuals were apprehended during the operation, resulting in the seizure of over four kilograms of heroin and several advanced firearms. Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav confirmed the arrests of Arshdeep Singh, a 21-year-old resident of Tarn Taran, and 31-year-old Tarsem Singh. The arsenal recovered from the duo includes two high-end Austrian Glock pistols and two Chinese-made .30 bore pistols, along with five cartridges and a total of 4.108 kilograms of heroin.

Investigations have revealed that the suspects maintained contact with Pakistani handlers through various social media platforms to coordinate the delivery of illicit goods via drones. Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar explained that the operation unfolded in stages, starting with the capture of Arshdeep Singh, who was found in possession of 2.6 kilograms of heroin. Information obtained during his interrogation led authorities to Tarsem Singh, who was subsequently found with the remaining 1.5 kilograms of heroin and the concealed weaponry.

Further scrutiny into Tarsem Singh’s background uncovered his deep-seated connections with the notorious gangster Gurpreet Singh, also known as Krishna Jandiala, who is currently operating from an international location. Tarsem is a habitual offender with a rap sheet consisting of 16 criminal cases, including charges related to the NDPS Act, the Arms Act, and attempted murder. Officials disclosed that the fugitive gangster had allegedly lured Tarsem into the smuggling trade with the promise of providing a fraudulent passport to facilitate his escape from the country. Police are currently working to identify other local associates and international links within this organized network to prevent future infiltrations.
