Raipur: A Kolkata–Pune IndiGo flight made an emergency landing at Swami Vivekananda Airport in Chhattisgarh’s Raipur on Thursday after a woman passenger suffered a medical emergency during the journey, officials said.
According to airport authorities, the passenger lost consciousness mid-air, prompting the flight crew to immediately inform Air Traffic Control (ATC) and request urgent medical assistance. The aircraft was subsequently diverted to Raipur as a precautionary measure.
The flight, identified as 6E-135, landed safely around noon. A medical team arranged by the Airports Authority of India provided immediate first aid upon arrival, after which the passenger was shifted to a nearby hospital by ambulance for further treatment.
Officials said that after completing necessary procedures and stabilising the situation, the flight resumed its journey to Pune at around 1 pm.
Authorities added that the diversion and emergency response were handled efficiently, ensuring passenger safety and minimising disruption to the flight schedule.
