New Delhi: A political storm intensified on Friday after Aam Aadmi Party MP Sanjay Singh launched a scathing attack on seven Rajya Sabha members who have reportedly aligned with the Bharatiya Janata Party, calling the move a betrayal of the people’s mandate.

Addressing a press conference, Singh accused the rebel MPs of abandoning the party and the trust reposed in them by the people, particularly in Punjab.

Targeting the group led by Raghav Chadha, Singh named Sandeep Pathak, Ashok Mittal, Vikram Sahney, Swati Maliwal, Harbhajan Singh and Rajendra Gupta among those he alleged had defected to the BJP.

He said the leaders had risen politically with the backing of AAP and were entrusted with significant responsibility before being sent to the Rajya Sabha, adding that their decision to switch sides amounted to a breach of public trust.

Sanjay Singh argued that the mandate given by Punjab’s people was being undermined and urged the public to take note of what he described as political betrayal.

His remarks come amid escalating tensions over reports that seven AAP Rajya Sabha MPs have sought a merger with the BJP, a development that could significantly alter parliamentary equations and deepen the political confrontation between the two parties.

The leaders named in the alleged defection have yet to respond in detail to Sanjay Singh’s charges, but the controversy has already triggered strong reactions across party lines, with further political developments expected.
