Muktsar: A 30-year-old woman working as a helper at an Anganwadi centre in village Fatehpur Manianwala near Malot was brutally murdered on Wednesday morning. The victim, identified as Ramandeep Kaur, was on duty when an unidentified assailant entered the centre and attacked her. The incident has sent shockwaves through the local community, raising serious concerns about the safety of female employees working in public institutions within rural areas. Ramandeep Kaur is survived by her husband and two young children.
According to the victim’s brother, Harjinder Singh, and her husband, Ramandeep had left for work as per her daily routine. Shortly after she arrived at the centre, the family received the devastating news of the attack. Distraught relatives and villagers gathered at the spot, questioning the state of law and order if a woman can be murdered in broad daylight at her workplace.
Upon receiving information about the crime around 9:00 am, senior police officials, including the DSP, reached the village to initiate a thorough investigation. Forensic teams have collected evidence from the crime scene, and the police are currently recording the statement of the victim’s husband to lodge a formal FIR. Authorities have assured the family that multiple teams are working to identify and apprehend the culprit based on the available footage. The local community has demanded swift justice and increased security measures at village-level government centres to prevent such tragic occurrences in the future.
