Punjab Floods: CM Mann’s Native Village Satauj Reels Under Severe Waterlogging

Sangrur (Punjab): Flood fury has swept across Sangrur district, leaving several areas submerged, including Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s native village Satauj. Despite being the CM’s home turf, the village is grappling with heavy waterlogging that has disrupted daily life.

In Tolawal village near Sunam, at least eight houses belonging to poor families have been damaged by floodwaters. Villagers said the situation has worsened steadily, with normal activities grinding to a halt.

Satauj residents expressed frustration that administrative efforts have not been able to contain the crisis. Many pointed out that if such conditions persist in the Chief Minister’s own constituency, the plight of smaller villages could be even worse.

Reports confirm that Sangrur, Sunam, and Dhuri subdivisions remain among the worst-affected, with vast stretches of farmland and residential areas inundated. While no fresh rainfall has been reported in the district today, floodwaters from upstream continue to pour in, raising fears of further damage.

Locals have appealed to the state government to intensify relief and rehabilitation measures. They warned that prolonged stagnation of water could worsen the crisis, heightening risks for both crops and homes in the region.
