New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested a senior aviation official along with a private company representative in connection with an alleged bribery case involving Rs 2.5 lakh, officials said on Monday.

The accused public servant, serving as Deputy Director General in the Airworthiness Directorate of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), was taken into custody after investigators caught him in the alleged act of accepting the bribe. The entire amount involved in the transaction was recovered during the operation.

Following the arrests, the agency carried out searches at multiple locations linked to the accused in the national capital. Raids were conducted at four premises in Delhi, including residential and office spaces of both the official and associated individuals.

During these searches, officials recovered cash amounting to approximately ₹37 lakh. In addition, gold and silver coins, along with several digital devices, were seized as part of the evidence collection process.

Sources within the probe agency indicated that the bribe was allegedly linked to official clearances, though the exact nature of the favour sought is still under investigation.

The CBI has stated that further inquiries are underway to uncover the full scope of the case, including the possible involvement of other individuals or entities.
