Bathinda: A science teacher at a government school in Maur Mandi, Bathinda, has filed a police complaint against a senior mathematics teacher, alleging sexual harassment and intimidation. The incident reportedly occurred inside the school’s science laboratory under the pretext of inspecting faulty storage shelves. According to the victim’s statement to the Bathinda Police, the accused teacher used his position as a member of the laboratory repair committee to isolate her before forcefully restraining and molesting her.

The female teacher, who has been stationed at the school since June 2023, stated that the harassment began when she requested the accused to check a malfunctioning shelf. Once inside the lab, the accused allegedly made inappropriate remarks about a “party” and subsequently grabbed her by force. When she attempted to cry for help, the accused reportedly muffled her voice and committed obscene acts. The victim managed to escape his grip and immediately reported the trauma to other staff members and her family.

The situation escalated when the accused teacher allegedly threatened the victim with dire consequences if she disclosed the incident to anyone. Acting on the formal complaint, the Bathinda Police have registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) concerning sexual harassment and criminal intimidation. Local authorities confirmed that a manhunt has been launched to arrest the accused teacher, who remains at large following the registration of the FIR.
