Shimla: Governor Kavinder Gupta has extended his greetings to the people of the State on the auspicious occasion of Himachal Day. In his message, the Governor said that 15th April, 1948 occupies a historic milestone of the State, as on this day Himachal Pradesh came into existence with the merger of 30 small and large hill princely states. He said that the day is not only historically significant but also symbolizes the spirit of unity, dedication and collective resolve of the people.

The Governor said that Himachal Pradesh has always been at the forefront in patriotism and sacrifice and therefore it is often referred to as Veer Bhoomi. He paid tributes to the brave soldiers from the state who have displayed exemplary courage and supreme sacrifice in safeguarding the nation.

Gupta further said that as the State celebrates its 79th Himachal Day, it is a matter of pride that despite its limited geographical size, Himachal Pradesh has achieved remarkable progress in various sectors. He said that the state has carved a distinct identity across the country in the fields of education, healthcare, social welfare, infrastructure development and environmental conservation. He attributed these achievements to the hard work, strong determination of the citizens and the visionary leadership that has guided the State towards growth and development.

Calling upon the people to work collectively for the welfare of society, the Governor urged citizens to take a firm resolve to make Himachal a drug-free State. He said that the dignity of Devbhoomi can be preserved only when the youth remain free from the menace of drugs and actively participate in nation-building by becoming responsible members of society.

He further said that Himachal Day inspires everyone to work together for the inclusive development of the State and to lay a strong foundation for a safe, prosperous and culturally rich Himachal for the coming generations.
