Ujjain: A high-intensity rescue operation is underway in Ujjain after a two-and-a-half-year-old boy accidentally fell into an open borewell while playing in a field on Thursday evening.
According to officials, the incident occurred when the child stepped onto a borewell opening that was only loosely covered. Although a stone had been placed on top as a safety measure, it reportedly shifted under pressure, causing the toddler to slip inside.
Authorities acted swiftly after receiving the alert, deploying teams from the State Disaster Response Force along with local administration and emergency services. Heavy machinery and specialised equipment have been mobilised at the site to expedite the rescue.
Officials stated that continuous monitoring is being carried out using cameras lowered into the borewell to track the child’s position and condition. Efforts are focused on ensuring a safe and quick extraction.
The administration has cordoned off the area, while medical teams remain on standby. Rescue personnel are working round the clock, with all available resources being utilised to bring the child to safety at the earliest.
