BCCI Ends Ties with Dream11 After Passage of Online Gaming Bill 2025

New Delhi: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the termination of its partnership with fantasy sports platform Dream11, following the enactment of the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Bill, 2025.

BCCI Secretary Devachit Saikia, in a statement to ANI, confirmed that the board would not engage with any organisation linked to online gaming or fantasy platforms in the future. “The BCCI has taken note of the new law and will ensure complete compliance. We are committed to keeping cricket free from any association that may conflict with the regulatory framework,” Saikia said.

Dream11 had been among the prominent sponsors in Indian cricket, with past associations including team sponsorships and major tournament tie-ups. The move marks a significant shift in BCCI’s sponsorship strategy, as fantasy gaming and online sports platforms had emerged as dominant players in recent years.

Industry experts believe the exit of such platforms may create a sponsorship vacuum but also open doors for new categories of advertisers. Meanwhile, stakeholders are closely watching how the bill will reshape India’s multi-billion-dollar online gaming industry.

The Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Bill, 2025 introduces stricter guidelines on online gaming, fantasy sports, and related promotional activities, aiming to regulate the sector while addressing concerns over addiction and financial risks.
