Chandigarh: Haryana’s Minister of State for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Rajesh Nagar, on Thursday, visited the grain markets and procurement centers of Jhajjar and Asaudha to conduct a detailed inspection of the arrangements for Rabi crop procurement and issued necessary directions to the concerned officials. During the visit, Sh. Nagar interacted with farmers and commission agents in the mandis, listened to their concerns, and assured them that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the national level and Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, in the state, the government is fully committed to safeguarding farmers’ interests.

He clearly stated that no farmer should face any difficulty while selling their crops. He said that the government’s goal is to ensure that every grain of farmers’ produce is procured on time and at the appropriate price, and that the entire process is made transparent, effective, and farmer-friendly. For this, officials have been instructed to remain present in the mandis continuously and monitor all arrangements closely.

Rajesh Nagar said that the government has fixed the Minimum Support Price (MSP) at ₹2585 per quintal for wheat and ₹6200 per quintal for mustard this time. He said ensuring that farmers receive the right price for their crops on time is the government’s top priority.

He instructed officials to ensure that there is no delay in the payment process and that payments are made directly to farmers’ bank accounts with complete transparency.
During the inspection, Rajesh Nagar reviewed arrangements such as cleanliness, sheds, drinking water, toilets, CCTV, weighing systems, biometric electronic devices, gate passes, availability of gunny bags, and crop lifting in detail. He directed that all essential facilities in mandis be provided at a high standard so that farmers do not face any inconvenience.

DFSC Rajeshwar Mudgil informed the Minister that a control room has been set up at the Marketing Board office to effectively monitor Rabi crop procurement. This control room will keep continuous surveillance over the procurement process in all mandis of the district through CCTV cameras. This will help maintain transparency and enable immediate action in case of any irregularity. Officials, commission agents, and farmers were present on the occasion.
