New Delhi – The Delhi Police Crime Branch has dismantled a major heroin syndicate with the arrest of two women drug suppliers and the seizure of narcotics valued at more than Rs 5 crore in the international market.
Officials said the accused, Seema (54) of Nand Nagri and her sister-in-law Samita (43) of Shahdara, were apprehended on August 22 during a raid near GTB Hospital. They were caught riding a scooter while attempting to deliver a consignment of heroin to D-Block Jhuggi, Nand Nagri. A total of 1,049 grams of contraband was recovered along with the scooter, cash, and mobile phones.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch) Sanjeev Kumar Yadav said Seema, a habitual offender with over two decades of involvement in Delhi’s drug trade, spearheaded the network. Her residence had been flagged as one of 64 high-risk drug trafficking hotspots in the city. Police investigations revealed it was being used as both a storage and distribution hub.
According to investigators, the syndicate sourced high-grade heroin from suppliers in Delhi-NCR and redistributed it in Nand Nagri and nearby areas through smaller peddlers. Seema coordinated procurement, concealment, and distribution, while Samita acted as her field associate, managing transportation and delivery.
Seema has an extensive criminal background, with 10 NDPS Act cases and 30 Excise Act cases since 2000. She was also wanted in two narcotics cases registered this year in Nand Nagri and Shahbad Dairy. Police confirmed that even her sons face similar charges, showing the family’s long-standing role in the drug trade.
Samita too has a history of crime, with three cases under the Excise Act and one under the NDPS Act. Both women played key roles in maintaining the supply chain, police said.
Further investigation is underway to trace the suppliers and other members of the syndicate. Authorities indicated that more arrests are likely.
