Palm Beach International Airport Renamed to Honor President Donald Trump

Washington DC: Florida Governor Ron DeSantis signed a bill officially rebranding Palm Beach International Airport as the “President Donald J. Trump International Airport.” The legislative move honors the current U.S. President, whose Mar-a-Lago estate is located just miles from the facility. The renaming is scheduled to take effect on July 1, 2026, marking a significant symbolic shift for the major Florida travel hub.

The announcement was amplified by the President’s son, Eric Trump, who expressed pride on social media for playing a role in the transition. He extended thanks to Governor DeSantis and State Representative Meg Weinberger for their support in the Florida House. While the Trump Organization filed trademark applications for the name in February—covering various travel-related merchandise—the company clarified that the President and his family will not receive any royalties or licensing fees from the rebranding.

Despite the state-level approval, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) noted that airport naming is primarily a local and state issue. In a statement, the agency clarified that it does not “approve” such changes but will perform the necessary administrative tasks, including updating navigational charts and databases, to reflect the new designation. The renaming comes as President Trump continues to leave a mark on public institutions, recently unveiling plans for a skyscraper-based presidential library in Miami.
