Chandigarh: In a significant boost to regional air connectivity, IndiGo has introduced a new daily direct flight between Chandigarh and Navi Mumbai as part of its large-scale network expansion from the newly developed Navi Mumbai International Airport.
The airline announced the rollout of more than 30 new routes, which will be introduced in phases from March 29 to April 23. Chandigarh has been included among the key cities connected from the very beginning of this expansion. As per the schedule, the flight will depart Navi Mumbai in the evening and return from Chandigarh later the same day, offering a convenient option for travellers.
With the addition of these routes, IndiGo plans to operate over 400 weekly departures from Navi Mumbai, positioning the airport as a major hub in its domestic network. The move is aimed at strengthening point-to-point travel while easing pressure on existing metro airports.
Apart from Chandigarh, the airline is linking Navi Mumbai with several cities across the country, including Agra, Ayodhya, Bagdogra, Patna, Srinagar, Varanasi and Visakhapatnam. The initiative reflects a broader push to improve connectivity to Tier-II and Tier-III cities and support growing passenger demand.
In western India, the airline has also expanded its presence in Gujarat by launching new connections. A double-daily service between Bhavnagar and Navi Mumbai has already commenced, while flights to Jamnagar are scheduled to begin later in April.
The updated network includes a mix of high-frequency routes and new destinations, covering cities such as Indore, Goa, Dehradun and Kolkata. Additional services to places like Jammu, Bareilly and Kannur will be introduced in the coming days as part of the phased expansion.
Industry observers see this move as a strategic effort by IndiGo to establish a strong foothold at Navi Mumbai ahead of its full operational scale-up, while enhancing travel options for passengers across the country.
