New Delhi: Union Ministers Nitin Gadkari and Ashwini Vaishnaw on Thursday, March 26, 2026, jointly launched the PRISM-SG (Portal for Rail-Road Inspection & Stages Management – Steel Girders) in a move to revolutionize infrastructure coordination. Developed as a comprehensive digital platform, PRISM-SG is designed to streamline the complex approval and inspection processes essential for the construction of Road Over Bridges (ROBs). By centralizing Quality Assurance Plans (QAP), Welding Procedure Specification Sheets (WPSS), and fabrication-stage inspections of steel girders, the portal aims to eliminate the traditional bureaucratic bottlenecks that have historically delayed critical transit projects.

The launch marks a significant shift toward an end-to-end digital solution, allowing for seamless online processing from initial document submission and technical evaluation to final approvals and inspection scheduling. One of the most impactful features of the new system is its ability to reduce the standard approval timeline from nearly 12 months down to just 3–4 months. This acceleration is achieved through real-time monitoring and a unified audit trail that ensures accountability among all stakeholders, including Road Owning Departments, Indian Railways, contractors, and specialized inspection agencies.

Minister Nitin Gadkari emphasized that the transparency provided by PRISM-SG would foster better coordination between the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) and the Ministry of Railways. By integrating all parties onto a single platform, the government expects to see a dramatic increase in project execution speeds and the timely delivery of safer, more efficient infrastructure across the country. Officials noted that the portal’s ability to allow for instant report uploads and real-time tracking will be a game-changer for large-scale bridge fabrication, where delays at a single inspection stage often have cascading effects on national highway connectivity.
