Mumbai: Filmmaker Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri and producer Bhushan Kumar have unveiled their next cinematic project titled Operation Sindoor, a film rooted in recent national security events.

According to the makers, the film draws inspiration from India’s targeted military strikes on terror bases in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, carried out in the aftermath of the 2025 Pahalgam terror attack. The incident, which claimed the lives of 26 civilians, mostly tourists, serves as a key backdrop for the narrative.

The project is based on the book Operation Sindoor: The Untold Story of India’s Deep Strikes Inside Pakistan authored by Lt Gen KJS ‘Tiny’ Dhillon (Retd). The film will be directed by Agnihotri and jointly produced by T-Series and I Am Budha Productions.

Speaking about the announcement, Kumar described the story as one that carries deep national significance and requires careful and honest storytelling. He emphasised that the film aims to present events of such magnitude with responsibility and clarity.

Agnihotri, known for directing films like The Kashmir Files and The Tashkent Files, said the project is the result of extensive on-ground research conducted with various branches of the Indian Armed Forces. He noted that the film would explore not just the events themselves but also the strategy and circumstances behind them.

He further added that the intention is to present a gripping yet factual account, offering audiences a deeper understanding of modern warfare and the complexities involved.

The makers have indicated that more details regarding the cast and release timeline will be announced in the coming weeks.
