Israeli UN Envoy Denies Knowledge of Peace Talks; Vows to Neutralize Iranian Nuclear Threat

New York: Israel’s Ambassador to the United Nations, Danny Danon, stated that he has no knowledge of any active peace negotiations involving Israel, the United States, and Iran. Speaking during a media stakeout at the UN headquarters in New York, Danon clarified that Israeli and American forces are continuing their joint military operations against Iranian targets. He emphasized that any eventual diplomatic resolution must ensure that Tehran is permanently stripped of its nuclear and ballistic missile capabilities. Danon’s remarks create a notable contrast with recent statements from U.S. President Donald Trump, who suggested that Iran is “totally defeated” and that negotiations for a “deal” are already underway.

Addressing the UN Security Council, the Israeli envoy detailed the scale of the month-long conflict, noting that Israel has conducted over 8,500 strikes against Iranian missile launchers, command centres, and weapons production facilities. He accused the Iranian regime of attempting to “blackmail” the international community and highlighted recent missile strikes on civilian areas in Arad and Dimona as evidence of the regime’s destructive intent. Danon characterized Israel as a “stabilizing force” in the region, contrasting its history of peace treaties with what he described as Iran’s record of attacking 13 countries in a single month. He asserted that the current military campaign has significantly weakened the regime’s command structure and eliminated key figures driving the aggression.

Despite the U.S. President’s optimistic claims of a military victory and looming peace, the situation on the ground remains highly volatile. While President Trump asserted that Iran’s navy and air force have been decimated, the Iranian military has maintained a belligerent stance, recently launching its 80th wave of retaliatory strikes. Tehran continues to officially deny that any negotiations are taking place, maintaining that peace will only be considered once the U.S.-Israeli military campaign ceases. As both sides trade conflicting narratives of total defeat and continued resistance, a clear path to de-escalation in West Asia remains elusive.
