Mumbai: Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge continues its remarkable box office journey, crossing the Rs 200 crore mark within two days of release, even as collections saw a slight dip on its second day.
Directed by Aditya Dhar and headlined by Ranveer Singh, the action sequel earned Rs 80.72 crore on its second day (Friday), following a record-breaking opening. Despite a drop of over 20 per cent from its Day 1 earnings of Rs 102.55 crore, the film has maintained strong momentum across the country.
The Hindi version drove the bulk of the revenue, contributing nearly Rs 79 crore with theatre occupancy exceeding 60 per cent. In contrast, regional versions in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam registered comparatively modest collections, indicating the film’s primary dominance in the Hindi-speaking belt.
With a total domestic net collection of Rs 226.27 crore and gross earnings nearing Rs 270 crore globally, the film has already outpaced the lifetime earnings of several recent releases. It has surpassed films like Fighter and is fast approaching the benchmark set by War.
Globally, the film opened to a staggering Rs 236.63 crore on Day 1, supported by strong overseas performance and impressive advance bookings. Paid previews also contributed significantly, adding to the film’s early momentum ahead of its official release on March 19.
The sequel, which follows the success of the original Dhurandhar, features a star-studded cast including R. Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt and Rakesh Bedi.
Trade analysts remain optimistic about the film’s trajectory, with expectations that it could cross the Rs 250 crore domestic mark within its opening weekend. Despite the minor slowdown, ‘Dhurandhar 2’ continues to draw large audiences, cementing its position as one of the biggest box office performers of the year.
