Ahmedabad: A bomb threat sent shockwaves through the Gujarat Assembly complex on Wednesday morning, prompting an immediate evacuation just before the day’s Budget session was set to begin.

According to officials, the warning was delivered via email around 8:45 am, barely minutes before proceedings were scheduled to commence at 9 am. The message alleged that an explosive device had been planted within the Assembly premises, leading authorities to act swiftly.

Security personnel and local police teams rushed to the site as soon as the alert was received. All legislators, staff members, and visitors were asked to vacate the building as a precautionary measure. Deputy Superintendent of Police Piyush Vanda confirmed that a thorough search operation was launched soon after.

Teams equipped to handle such emergencies began scanning the entire परिसर, while access to the area was tightly restricted to ensure safety. Despite the seriousness of the threat, initial searches did not uncover any suspicious objects.

Officials said investigations are ongoing to trace the origin of the email and assess its credibility. Meanwhile, heightened security measures remain in place as authorities continue to monitor the situation closely.

The disruption briefly halted the scheduled legislative business, though officials indicated that normal proceedings would resume once the परिसर is declared safe.
