Moosa: The younger sibling of late Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala marked his second birthday on Tuesday, with the family choosing a quiet and private observance. Fondly referred to as “Nikka Sidhu” by fans, the toddler continues to draw public attention due to his resemblance to the late artist and the enduring legacy attached to the name.
Though no large gathering was organised this year, social media platforms were flooded with messages from admirers of the singer, many of whom extended warm wishes to the child. Over time, Nikka Sidhu has remained in the spotlight, often appearing in discussions among fans who continue to celebrate Moosewala’s life and music.
Shortly after his birth, the child made headlines when his photograph alongside his father, Balkaur Singh, was displayed on a billboard in New York’s Times Square—an indication of the global reach of the late singer’s fan base.
In contrast to this year’s subdued observance, his first birthday had been celebrated with a small gathering attended by close family members and friends. Among those present was former Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi, who joined the family during the cake-cutting ceremony. Images and clips from the occasion had circulated widely online.
Nikka Sidhu was born nearly two years after the tragic death of Sidhu Moosewala. The family welcomed him through IVF, a decision that drew significant public interest at the time.
The singer, whose real name was Shubhdeep Singh, was killed on May 29, 2022, in Jawaharke village of Punjab’s Mansa district. The incident had sparked widespread outrage and mourning, both in India and among his international fan community.
