New Delhi: The United States and India are on the verge of finalizing a pivotal agreement focused on critical minerals to strengthen global supply chains for advanced technologies. US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor confirmed on Friday that a major announcement regarding this partnership is expected within the coming months. Speaking at an event in New Delhi, Gor noted that discussions between Washington and New Delhi have reached a stage of substantial progress as both governments prioritize the completion of the arrangement.
This proposed pact aims to enhance bilateral cooperation in securing materials essential for high-growth sectors, including semiconductors, electric vehicles, renewable energy systems, and advanced defence technologies. Officials indicate that the move is a strategic effort to build more resilient supply chains while reducing global vulnerabilities tied to the highly concentrated sources of rare earths and strategic minerals currently dominating the market.
Ambassador Gor emphasized that the upcoming agreement reflects a growing strategic convergence and a shared interest in fortifying manufacturing ecosystems. This development aligns with broader initiatives like PaxSilica, a US-led effort designed to create secure supply chains for silicon and semiconductor resources. As both nations deepen their partnership, this collaboration is viewed as a cornerstone for economic and security stability within the Indo-Pacific region.
