ZIRAKPUR, PUNJAB — A high-speed tragedy struck the bustling VIP Road in Zirakpur late Tuesday night, claiming the life of a foreign woman after she was mown down by a black Audi. The victim, identified as Mouluda, was reportedly killed instantly in the collision, which occurred directly in front of Amcare Hospital. The incident has sparked significant outrage among local residents regarding the lack of traffic enforcement and the delayed response of emergency services.

According to on-site reports, Mouluda had been visiting a patient at Amcare Hospital shortly before the accident occurred. She was walking with a friend, Abhishek, who had come to the facility to check on his pregnant wife. As the duo attempted to cross the main road around midnight, the luxury vehicle, travelling at an excessive speed, struck Mouluda with immense force. Eyewitnesses described a harrowing scene, claiming the impact launched the woman nearly 14 feet into the air before she landed on the pavement. She succumbed to severe injuries and massive blood loss on the spot, while Abhishek escaped with minor physical injuries.

The aftermath of the crash saw a heated confrontation between locals and authorities. Residents alleged that despite immediate calls to the police control room, it took nearly an hour for officers to arrive at the crash site. By the time the police reached the location, the driver of the Audi had already fled the scene. Investigating Officer Raj Kumar confirmed that the victim’s body has been moved to the mortuary at the Dera Bassi Civil Hospital, where it remains pending further legal formalities.

The Punjab Police have launched a formal investigation and are currently scanning CCTV footage from cameras installed at Amcare Hospital and neighbouring commercial establishments to identify the vehicle’s registration number and the individual behind the wheel. Officer Raj Kumar stated that the victim’s sister is currently travelling from Turkey to India to participate in the identification process. A post-mortem examination and subsequent criminal proceedings will be initiated once the family arrives in the country.
