Ludhiana Schools on High Alert After Bomb Threat Emails; Police Sweep Underway

Ludhiana: Panic spread across Ludhiana on Tuesday after 10 city schools and several local journalists received bomb threat emails, prompting immediate security measures and police investigations.

The emails, reportedly sent from marammanoubi845@gmail.com and copied to school addresses including info@drishtischool.com, pdavldh@rediffmail.com, and principal.mrisldh@mris.edu.in, contained warnings in Punjabi, threatening explosions in schools and trains. The messages referenced historical events and warned that children could be at risk.

Following the threats, Ludhiana police, bomb disposal squads, and dog squads rushed to the affected schools. School administrations evacuated students as a precaution, and security teams began thorough searches of classrooms, corridors, and surrounding areas. A heavy police presence has been deployed outside all campuses.

Authorities have urged parents to remain calm and avoid panic while the searches are conducted. The cyber cell is tracing the IP address of the email to identify the sender and determine whether the threats were a prank or part of a larger conspiracy.

Police Commissioner Swapan Sharma confirmed that security teams are actively checking the schools, while Additional DCP Sameer Verma said that so far, no suspicious items have been found. Investigations are ongoing.

This is not the first time schools in the region have received threats. On February 10, 16 schools in Mohali were targeted with similar bomb threat emails, but no explosives were found after police inspections.

The 10 schools affected in Tuesday’s incident include:

  1. Jesus Secured Heart, South City, PS PAU
  2. KVM School, Hambra Road, PS Div No 8
  3. Army Public School, Dholewal, PS Div No 6
  4. Ryan International School, PS Moti Nagar
  5. DAV School, Vill Daad, PP Lalton, PS Sadar
  6. BCM School, Basant Avenue, PS Sadar
  7. Sacred Heart Convent School, PS Div No 5
  8. Narayana E-Techno School, Bahttian, PS Salem Tabri
  9. Dashmesh Academy, Bhamia, PS Jamalpur
  10. DAV Public School, BRS Nagar, PS Sarabha Nagar

Police continue to monitor the situation closely and are carrying out anti-sabotage checks to ensure the safety of students and staff across the city.
