Delhi: Delhi Police have arrested five people, including three women, in connection with a daring robbery in North Delhi that allegedly targeted a businessman carrying cash and high-value mobile phones. Officials said most of the stolen property has been recovered.

According to Raja Banthia, Deputy Commissioner of Police (North District), the case was registered on February 17 after a complaint from Ramesh Lal, who had travelled from Jammu to the national capital. Lal told police that he was headed towards Timarpur when he got off a bus near Majnu Ka Tila and was confronted by a group comprising three men and three women.

In his statement, Lal alleged that the group surrounded him, intimidated and assaulted him, and during the commotion, three of the men fled with his bag. The bag reportedly contained ₹15 lakh in cash and 22 tagged iPhones that he had brought from Jammu for delivery in Delhi.

Police said the three women were detained at the scene immediately after the incident. Their questioning led investigators to identify three additional suspects — Imran, Tariq and Parvez. Parvez is believed to have planned the operation.

Preliminary findings suggest the accused boarded the same bus as the victim after spotting him with valuables. Investigators believe they tracked his movements and executed the robbery at a chosen location as part of a coordinated plan.

Officers confirmed that the stolen cash and mobile phones have been recovered. Further investigation is underway to determine whether the group has been involved in similar offences in the past.
