Delhi: New Delhi woke up to bright sunshine on Saturday morning, even as air pollution levels continued to remain a concern across the city.

According to the India Meteorological Department, the minimum temperature was recorded at 16.4 degrees Celsius, nearly four degrees above the seasonal norm. The early hours of the day felt warmer than usual for this time of year, reflecting a steady rise in temperatures over the past few days.

The weather office has forecast partly cloudy conditions as the day progresses. The maximum temperature is expected to climb to around 31.9 degrees Celsius, which is close to six degrees higher than the average for the season.

Humidity levels were relatively high in the morning, with readings touching 84 per cent at 8:30 am, adding to the discomfort for commuters and early risers.

Despite the pleasant sunshine, Delhi’s air quality remained in the ‘poor’ category, posing health risks, particularly for vulnerable groups such as children, the elderly, and those with respiratory conditions. Authorities have advised residents to limit prolonged outdoor exposure and follow necessary precautions.

Weather experts indicate that rising temperatures and fluctuating wind patterns are influencing both the heat and pollution levels in the capital. Further updates are expected as conditions evolve over the weekend.
