New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta is reported to be in stable condition after a brief scuffle during a public hearing on Wednesday morning. State BJP president Virendraa Sachdeva confirmed that the Chief Minister was examined by doctors and suffered no major injuries.

According to Sachdeva, the incident occurred when a man approached CM Gupta during the Jan Sunvai at her residence, handed over some papers, and suddenly attempted to pull her towards him. “There was a little jostling, but the Chief Minister is safe. She is a strong woman and has made it clear that she will not cancel her scheduled programs,” he told reporters. He added that reports of a “slap” or “stone pelting” were exaggerated and dismissed them as fabricated. The accused was apprehended immediately, and police have begun an investigation into the matter.

Delhi Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa strongly condemned the incident, alleging that it may have been politically motivated. “This is a conspiracy by rivals who cannot tolerate that the CM remains among the people, listening to them directly. Delhi Police will investigate all angles,” he said in a video message.

Another cabinet colleague, Kapil Mishra, described the attack as a “cowardly act,” asserting that governance in Delhi will not be derailed. “Those who fear reforms like Ayushman Cards, better sewer systems, and the cleaning of the Yamuna are resorting to such tactics. But this government will neither bow down nor halt its work for Delhi’s progress,” Mishra posted on social media.

Meanwhile, officials confirmed that the CM is resting but intends to continue with her public interactions as planned.
