Bathinda: The Bathinda District Court has deferred the hearing in the defamation case filed by Bebe Mahinder Kaur against BJP MP Kangana Ranaut to March 10, 2026. This delay is attributed to an ongoing strike by local advocates, which has significantly disrupted judicial proceedings in the region.

Bebe Mahinder Kaur’s legal counsel, Raghbir Singh Behniwal, confirmed that the next proceedings will take place in March due to the strike. He further noted that an application has been moved in the honorable court seeking the surrender of Kangana Ranaut’s passport. This request stems from concerns regarding the advanced age of Mahinder Kaur, who finds it increasingly difficult to attend frequent court hearings.

Adding a personal dimension to the legal battle, Mahinder Kaur’s husband, Labh Singh, shared his frustrations regarding the prolonged process. He revealed that he has been receiving numerous phone calls from overseas pressuring the family to enter into a settlement or compromise. Despite these pressures and the physical toll of traveling to court at their age, Labh Singh remains steadfast. He emphasized that even if the actress were to visit their home personally, they would not grant forgiveness. Instead, the family is prepared to accept only the final verdict delivered by the court or the will of God.

The defamation suit originated from comments made by Ranaut during the farmers’ protest, where she allegedly misidentified Mahinder Kaur as a woman available for hire at protests for a meager sum. The case has since become a high-profile legal struggle representing the dignity of the elderly participants of the agrarian movement.
