The victims were traveling from their native village in the Pali district of Rajasthan and were heading back to their residence in Ahmedabad when the mishap took place.

Details of the Crash

According to the Unava police, the driver of the minivan lost control of the vehicle while navigating a stretch of the highway. The van veered sharply and collided with the road divider at high speed. The impact was so severe that four passengers were killed instantly.

The deceased have been identified as:

  • Ramlal Kumawat

  • Komal Kumawat

  • Kailashbhai Kumawat

  • Ayush Kumawat (4 years old)

  • Mathuradevi Kumawat (Succumbed to injuries at the hospital)

Local authorities and passersby rushed to the scene to assist the survivors. Seven injured passengers were moved to the Mehsana Civil Hospital for emergency care. While four victims died at the site, Mathuradevi Kumawat, an elderly member of the family, passed away while undergoing treatment.

Police Inspector P.D. Darji confirmed that the remaining six injured family members are currently being treated. The condition of some of the survivors is reported to be critical.

Investigation Underway

The Unava police have initiated a formal inquiry into the cause of the accident. Preliminary assessments suggest that driver fatigue or a sudden mechanical failure may have led to the loss of control, though a final report is awaited. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination before being handed over to relatives in Ahmedabad.
