Chandigarh: After recent threats to schools in Punjab, the Punjab Secretariat has now received a bomb threat via email, prompting immediate evacuation and heightened security measures.
According to available information, a threatening email was sent to the Secretariat, following which the building was evacuated as a precaution. Police authorities swiftly implemented strict security arrangements in and around the premises.
The email also mentioned the Chief Minister’s Office and the Punjab and Haryana High Court. It reportedly stated that an explosion would take place at Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s office at 2:11 pm, and at the Punjab Secretariat at the same time. Additionally, it claimed that a blast would occur at the Chandigarh court at 3:11 pm. The email also referred to the Chief Minister’s residence.
As a precautionary measure, police immediately cordoned off the area. Bomb disposal and dog squad teams were rushed to the spot. A thorough search of the premises is underway, with suspicious objects being examined and strict monitoring of individuals entering and exiting the area.
So far, no explosion has been reported. Investigations are ongoing, and authorities are verifying the authenticity of the threat.
