New Delhi: The Delhi Police has registered an FIR against quick-commerce platform Blinkit over the alleged sale of prohibited knives, following raids at its warehouses in Gurugram and Faridabad.

According to police officials, a raid at a Blinkit warehouse in Farrukhnagar, Gurugram, led to the seizure of 32 allegedly illegal knives. Another 16 knives were recovered from a facility in Delhi. The police claim the items included folding pocket knives often linked to criminal use and were being sold in violation of government regulations.

Officials said they ordered one of the knives through the platform for Rs 699 as part of their investigation. The product delivered was described as a “gararidar” knife — a folding knife that can be manually opened and closed. Upon examination, the blade measured 8 cm in length and 2.5 cm in width, exceeding the legally permitted limits of 7.62 cm in length and 1.72 cm in width prescribed under the law.

Police stated that knives exceeding these dimensions fall under the category of prohibited arms without proper authorisation.

An FIR has been registered under Sections 25, 54 and 59 of the Arms Act. Further investigation into the matter is underway.
