Patiala: A woman was allegedly murdered with a sharp-edged weapon in Ganda Kheri village on the Patiala-Rajpura Road, police said on Tuesday. The deceased has been identified as Ramanpreet Kaur.

Based on a complaint filed by the victim’s family, the police have registered a case against four individuals, including her husband Gurmeet Singh. Authorities have launched an investigation and are conducting raids to arrest the accused.

The victim’s brother, Simran Singh, stated that Ramanpreet Kaur was married seven years ago and had reportedly been facing domestic disputes at her matrimonial home. He said the family had returned from attending a wedding function on Monday evening when, around 7 pm, they received a phone call informing them of a quarrel at Ramanpreet’s house.

According to the family, repeated attempts to contact her husband went unanswered. They later went to the police station, where they were informed that Ramanpreet had been killed with a sharp weapon.

Providing details of the case, Ghanaur DSP Harmanpreet Singh Cheema said the deceased was a resident of Shahabad and was married there. He added that based on the statement of her brother Simran Singh, a case has been registered against her husband Gurmeet Singh, her brother-in-law, maternal uncle, and mother-in-law.

Police teams are conducting raids to apprehend the accused, and further investigation is underway.
