Ludhiana (Punjab): A shocking incident that has shaken the conscience of the city came to light from the Dugri area of Ludhiana, where a 40-year-old woman labourer was critically injured after an unidentified युवक threw acid on her before fleeing the scene.
The victim, identified as Savitri (40), originally hails from Hardoi district in Uttar Pradesh and has been living in Ludhiana for several years, working as a daily wage labourer. The attack took place around 2 pm on February 16 in the Guru Gyan Vihar locality of Dugri while she was preparing to have lunch.
According to eyewitnesses, a man arrived on a motorcycle, wearing a turban and a helmet, apparently to conceal his identity. He reportedly called Savitri over. As soon as she approached him, he allegedly threw acid from a bottle directly onto her face and sped away.
