New Delhi — OpenAI has introduced ChatGPT Go, a new subscription plan tailored for Indian users, priced at Rs 399 per month. The plan aims to make advanced artificial intelligence tools more affordable and accessible in one of the company’s fastest-growing markets.

The subscription brings users 10 times higher message limits compared to the free plan, along with access to image generation, file uploads, memory features, and enhanced Indic language support powered by GPT-5. OpenAI said the plan is designed for people in India who want broader access to ChatGPT’s advanced features at a lower cost.

In a significant move to improve accessibility, OpenAI also announced that all ChatGPT subscriptions in India can now be paid via UPI, the country’s most widely used digital payments system.

The new offering joins existing tiers, including ChatGPT Plus at Rs 1,999 per month, which provides priority access and faster performance, and ChatGPT Pro at ₹19,900 per month, catering to professionals and enterprises requiring advanced customization and scale.

India is currently ChatGPT’s second-largest market after the United States, with millions of users ranging from students and professionals to developers, entrepreneurs, and content creators. OpenAI leaders expect India could soon surpass the U.S. as its largest market globally.

Nick Turley, Vice President and Head of ChatGPT, said the company has been inspired by how Indians use ChatGPT daily for education, work, creativity, and problem-solving. “With ChatGPT Go, we’re excited to make these capabilities even more accessible and easier to pay for through UPI,” he said.

Earlier this month, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman described India as an “incredibly fast-growing” AI market and noted the remarkable ways Indian citizens and businesses are adopting artificial intelligence at scale.
