Kolkata: A routine morning departure from Kolkata to Shillong was disrupted on Saturday after a bomb threat note was found inside an IndiGo aircraft, prompting authorities to activate emergency protocols at the airport.
According to airport officials, the incident came to light before passengers had boarded IndiGo flight 6E 7304. A member of the cabin crew reportedly discovered a handwritten message inside the lavatory claiming that an explosive device had been placed on the plane. The information was immediately conveyed to airport security agencies.
The aircraft was subsequently escorted to a designated isolation bay as a precautionary step. Officials from the Airports Authority of India (AAI) confirmed that standard safety procedures were initiated without delay.
Security teams, including bomb disposal personnel, carried out a comprehensive inspection of the aircraft. As of the latest update, no suspicious object has been recovered from the plane.
Authorities said passenger safety remains the top priority and that all necessary checks are being conducted in accordance with established aviation security norms. Further investigation is underway to determine the origin and authenticity of the threat note.
