SAS Nagar–Mohali (Punjab): In an effort to maintain public order and ensure smooth functioning of government offices, District Magistrate Komal Mittal has prohibited dharnas, rallies and demonstrations in and around the District Administrative Complex, Sector-76, Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar.
Under the order, no protest, slogan-raising or assembly of five or more persons will be permitted within the premises of the District Administrative Complex or within a 100-metre radius outside its boundary. The restrictions will remain in effect from February 11, 2026, to April 10, 2026.
The directive clarifies that delegations of fewer than five individuals will still be allowed entry through the main gate for the purpose of submitting memorandums or official representations.
Explaining the move, the District Magistrate stated that political parties, employee unions and members of the public frequently gather near the complex to stage protests, leading to inconvenience for government officials and visitors. She added that such assemblies disrupt administrative work and may create risks to property, life and public safety.
Authorities have urged citizens to comply with the order to avoid legal action and ensure that essential administrative services continue without disruption.
